Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, August 19, reveal that Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) spoke with Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) at the hospital. Sarah relayed that Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) had just made Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) the new CEO of Titan Industries and that she and Xander were back together. Maggie was thrilled.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Victor was happy to see Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson), while Xander looked completely rattled. Philip said that he wanted to surprise Victor, and then he turned to Xander and greeted his cousin.
Philip and Victor enjoyed a drink together to celebrate, but Xander stood off to the side, needling Philip for not visiting Victor after his stroke.
Bickering between Philip and Xander ensued, and Xander was sure to let Philip know that he was the new Titan CEO. Philip was unimpressed, and Victor asked for some time alone with Philip.
Philip apologized for being away for so long, and Victor hoped that they could repair their relationship. Philip grumped about Deimos Kiriakis (Vincent Irizarry) kidnapping him and Victor taking Deimos’ side, and Victor said had done what he thought was best for the family.
Victor agreed to make it all up to Philip, and Philip said that Victor could do so by making him CEO of Titan Industries. Victor was surprised, and he said that he had just made Xander CEO.
Philip thought that it could be easily changed – besides, Philip said he was Victor’s son. Victor offered Executive VP, but Philip balked and said he’d give Victor some time to think it over.
In town square, Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) and Belle Black (Martha Madison) enjoyed dinner together, talking a bit about Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) being back on the police force and having some unresolved feelings for Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering).
Talk soon turned to their own relationship, and the topic of Philip and Belle’s affair came up. Belle said that she felt guilty over Shawn and Philip not having a relationship anymore.
Shawn and Belle decided that they wouldn’t discuss Philip anymore, and the discussion turned to the custody situation involving Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), Nicole Brady (Arianne Zucker), and Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan).
Belle decided that she needed to go see Sami over at the penthouse to try to talk her into compromising with Nicole and Eric. Shawn stayed behind.
A short while later, Shawn stood up and Philip walked up. Shawn wondered what Philip was doing there, and Philip thought that Shawn was off in Hong Kong. Philip asked about Claire Brady (Isabel Durant), then explained that he finally decided to stop running from his legacy and embrace it. Shawn looked unnerved.
At the Brady Pub, Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) greeted Will Horton (Chandler Massey) with some news that could “change everything.” Turns out, Sonny had just received a call from his brother about a business venture that Sonny and his brothers started in honor of their mom Adrienne Kiriakis (Judi Evans).
Sonny explained that it was for an AI program that analyzed mammogram results on a deeper level, and that he wanted to run the company.
But there was a hitch: Sonny would have to move to Phoenix to run the company. Will got scared and assumed that Sonny was leaving him to move to Phoenix, but Sonny said that he wanted Will and Ari Horton (Sydney Brower) to move to Phoenix with him.
Will wondered what Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus) would think, and Sonny thought that Ari could divide her time between Salem and Phoenix.
After some discussion, Will agreed to the plan, and Will and Sonny took off to go broach the subject with Gabi, which they acknowledged might not be easy.
Meanwhile, over at Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) and John Black’s (Drake Hogestyn) penthouse, Sami panicked and tried to revive John, who was collapsed on the floor. Sami cried and breathlessly apologized for all her horrible words to John before he collapsed.
Suddenly, Marlena walked in and saw what was going on. Marlena immediately attended to John and started CPR while Sami called 911. Marlena asked what happened, and Sami said that she and John were talking about the custody situation when John just collapsed.
Marlena got John breathing, and soon John got hauled away in an ambulance. Marlena went to ride with John to the hospital, while Sami stayed behind with the baby.
Sami remained a total wreck, and soon Belle arrived and quickly learned what had happened to her father. Belle wondered if it was a heart attack or a stroke, but Sami didn’t know.
Belle was thankful that Sami was with John when the collapse happened, and Belle rushed out to go to the hospital, while Sami sat alone and cried as she looked at a photo of John and Marlena.
In the Titan CEO office, Maggie brought Xander some balloons and congratulated him on his return to Titan. After some conversation about Xander and Sarah getting back together, Xander shared that Philip was back and over at the mansion.
Maggie supposed that Victor was happy, since he thinks the word of his son. After Maggie left, Xander sat happily in the CEO office.
At the hospital, Sarah examined an unconscious John while Marlena stood by. Sarah said that she wouldn’t know what caused John’s collapse until she did some tests, but that if she had to guess, it was probably a ruptured aneurysm.
Sarah exited, and Marlena told John that she was right there with him. Later, Belle arrived and got updated on what was going on.
Back at the Kiriakis mansion, Maggie arrived to find Victor on the couch. They discussed Philip a bit, and Maggie thanked Xander for hiring Xander back as CEO. Victor said that Xander’s happiness might be short-lived, as he had some news.
