In tonight’s episode of Debris, there was something odd with the weather. It rained in one part of the farm and it was clear in the other. The farm wasn’t big. The two ends weren’t separated by great distance or even different zip codes. No, the strange weather was caused by the debris.

There’s been debris that originally stemmed from alien technology and it was having such a disastrous effect on Earth. The strange weather was one of the effects. The people that were on the farm had tried to leave and they died the moment they stepped out of the rain. There was a barrier around the farm. Inside of this barrier, there was rain and outside of it, there were blue skies. The people died whenever they tried to breathe regular air.

It seems the weather wasn’t just a barrier. It changed people and their DNA. They can no longer tolerate regular fresh air. They were trapped in the rain. They couldn’t leave and the only way help was able to reach them was for Finola and Bryan to wear protective suits. The two of them went into the barrier.

They spoke to the people trapped inside and they found out what happened to them. It seems when the rain began, they felt deprived of oxygen as if they couldn’t breathe. It lasted for a few seconds and then they thought they were fine. It wasn’t until they tried to leave that they ran into problems. Their cars didn’t work inside the barrier. They couldn’t leave on foot and one woman was missing her son.

Her son traveled out into the rain to go look for help. He, unfortunately, could pass through the barrier without dying and Bryan later found him wandering around. The little boy wasn’t the only thing they found. They also found strange flora growing inside of the barrier.

It looked like brightly colored flowers and neither Bryan nor Finola had seen it before. Finola put one in a sample canister to be tested later on. She and Bryan then reunited the little boy they found with his mother and they returned to the base they set up just outside the barrier. Finola had the flower tested. The air was tested as well. It seems the air was chlorine-based and so the debris was terraforming the atmosphere.

The people inside of the barrier could no longer breathe oxygen. They had been changed just as much as the atmosphere and so that posed a difficult question of what will happen to them once the debris was removed. Bryan and Finola couldn’t risk moving the debris or else it was going to kill a bunch of people. The government also couldn’t hide this one because a family member had been outside of the barrier and he just came home.

He was stopped before he could get too close, but he has questions. He wants to know what happened to his family. He was reassured that there was safe and that there was an ongoing investigation. This is why he couldn’t go onto the farm to see or speak to anyone.

Efraim Munoz was not happy. His brother died and his brother’s children and widow are on the farm. They were the only family he has left. He wanted to see that they were okay for himself. He also wanted to know why it was raining just on the farm and nowhere else. Finola had to talk him down before he spiraled out. She told Efraim that he could best help his family if he gave them a DNA sample.

They were going to compare his DNA with his nephew’s to see the full range of how the people inside of the barrier were affected and just having something to do helped him to focus. Efraim gave his DNA. Finola and Bryan later got a sample from his nephew and they handed both over to their boss.

The same boss that was telling them how lucky they were this didn’t happen in a more populated area. The government, the military, and the boss were all agreed that the debris should be removed. They sorta had to do it once they realized the barrier was expanding. No one wanted to risk the barrier reaching the county or have it terraform whole cities.

Bryan was okay with this decision because he was a soldier and he thought in terms of people they were saving rather than people they were losing. But Finola couldn’t do it. She had to find a way to save those people on the farm. She couldn’t leave them to die and so she tried to find a cure with Dr. April Han. They discussed alternatives. They discussed cures. And in the end, Finola came up with a drastic measure.

Finola thought they should use Debris 489. The debris would place people in suspended animation and so they wouldn’t die nor would they be alive. They would be in-between while people around them looking for a cure. Finola had her drastic plan approved by Maddox. He agreed to send her the debris to use on the people trapped at the farm and in the meanwhile Finola dealt with Efraim.

They all knew Efraim would have questions. They decided to ignore them by detaining Efraim and this wasn’t an order that Finola could ignore. She had to stand back as Efraim was dragged away. He was shouting about his family the whole time he was being taken and it had looked like the government was going to keep him detained until he stops asking questions.

Finola was later feeling down. She didn’t really want to talk when an old friend from London called her and her friend told her that it was important. They have evidence that her father is still alive. They also told Finola that the Americans have known for a while now and haven’t said anything. Finola was sent the evidence. She saw footage of her father walking around and traveling.

She also now knows that she’s been working alongside people that have lied to her and so she stopped caring about what they thought. She went to Efraim. She explained to him what happened and what was about to happen. Finola broke the rules because she thought Efraim should know. He would need all the pieces before he could make a decision and the decision he made was to be with his family.

Finola allowed him across the barrier onto the farm. Efraim joined his family and he was put in suspended animation with them. He joined them because he firmly believed that they would be saved one day and he didn’t want to miss it. Efraim, like his family, was saved by the debris.

They will not age or get sick now. They now just wait for a cure. Finola didn’t get into trouble for what she did and she didn’t tell Bryan that she knew about her father. She instead put some distance between them. Prior to her finding out the truth, the two had been friendly. They even joked and laughed together and now Finola is returning to the plane alone and leaving Bryan to clean up after her.

THE END!
