The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) trap could bring Nate Hastings’ (Sean Dominic) failure. Will the traitor lose big after Devon forces a downfall?
This Chancellor-Winters storyline has proven that both Nate and Devon are wrong on some level.
Devon definitely has a massive ego and has rejected ideas without much thought simply because they came from inexperienced Nate.
At the same time, Nate is the new kid on the block in the business world.
Instead of taking the time to truly learn the ropes, Nate always thinks he knows best and has consistently gone against Devon’s wishes.
If Nate were working for anybody besides his cousin, he would’ve been fired a long time ago.
Right or wrong, most bosses aren’t going to put up with that level of disrespect.
Of course, Devon is so obnoxious most days that it’s hard to root for him, even when he knows what he’s talking about!
However, Nate’s arrogance isn’t appealing either and could lead to his own downfall eventually.
Nate is perhaps too confident going into this plan to be Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) inside man and help her become majority shareholder.
Although Nate’s goal is to land in the CEO seat, he may not get there if Devon has anything to say about it.
At the moment, Nate has duped Devon, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) into thinking he’s contrite and ready to be a team player. Even so, Devon will remain skeptical about Nate rejoining the company.
In Y&R’s September 23 episode, Devon mentions that he’ll let Nate run with some of his ideas and see if they actually work.
Billy picks up on Devon’s tone and wonders if Devon is setting Nate up to fail.
Although Devon denies it, that could be a major hint about where this storyline is going overall. Will Devon ultimately set Nate up to fail?
If Devon becomes privy to Nate’s scheme, it could give him a chance to turn the tables.
Whether the secret comes from Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) or someone like Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) figures it out instead, Nate could get busted.
In that case, Devon might get the last laugh by blocking Nate’s strategy at the last second.
It’ll be interesting to see if that dialogue about setting Nate up to fail turns into Nate’s actual failure.
