In tonight’s The Voice recap, it was Night Five of the Knockouts! Team Reba was up first. Reba with some assistance from legendary Joe Walsh got Ryan and Conrad were they needed to be. They were the first pairing of the night. Conrad chose “Closer” by Ne-Yo. Only the song still felt like Ne-Yo’s during rehearsals. He needed to make it his own and that’s all the coaches wanted for him. Conrad was more R&B while Ryan was more Rock. These two sounded nothing alike. Ryan was brought back by Carson and thus he knew what it was like to be eliminated.

Ryan being a rocker meant he loved meeting Joe Walsh. He was very much a fan. Now, Ryan chose “Zombie” by the Cranberries. His song was very 90s. Ryan completely turned the song into his own. He just needed some help with the rearrangement. Both artists would go on to put an incredible performance. They were able to connect with the audience in a special way. They both chose songs that held meaning to them. It was Ryan that came out ahead a little because Reba realized there’s no one else that sounds like him.

Next up was Team Bublé. Zac Brown was there to assist him. The first pairing of the night for them was Rob and Marty. Marty had one of Michael’s favorite voices ever. Michael also said that Rob was a natural frontrunner. Marty chose “The Letter” by Joe Crocker. He loves Joe. He was a huge fan and this song in particular reminded him of his family. It wasn’t easy pursuing music with a family at home. Rob chose his song for that same reason. He chose “Wondering Why” by the Red Clay Strays because it was important to his wife.

Marty was told to take it easy while Rob was told to put himself out there. Rob was playing the piano tonight. He needed to come out from behind it and rip his shirt if he must. His coaches wanted him to let loose. They told Marty the exact opposite. They wanted him to find his quiet moments. He was full on and he can afford to build up to it. Rob went first with his performance tonight. He really did Michael proud. Then came Marty. Marty’s raspy voice makes everything he sings sounds great.

Marty naturally gave a thousand percent onstage. One coach said he was captivating to watch. He didn’t need the piano and yet Rob was just as great in an albeit different way. The true question was what’s more important to Michael Bublé. Michael ultimately chose to go with Rob. Marty has an amazing voice, but he didn’t take direction as well as Rob did else he would have had more quiet moments in his performance. The other coaches disagreed. Snoop personally got up and danced when Marty performed. And so he made sure to get his hug before Marty left.

Team Bublé continued. There was the Knockout between Trinity and Justin. It wasn’t highlighted like other performances tonight because there was a clear from almost the start. Trinity sounded just way too good. The only note for her performance of “I’m Your Baby Tonight” by Whitney Houston was just let it by hers. Something she fixed for the final performance. Her voice was effortless. She could go far with the show and its really all about winning because Michael has had two winners so far. And he was looking for a third.

Team Niall was soon up. He had Kayleigh going up against DEK of Hearts. They were all extraordinary talented. Kayleigh was just the first one to bring out the crowd pleaser. She yodeled. She chose the song “Blue” by LeAnn Rimes. She threw it some yodeling and everyone was jealous. This included Joe Walsh himself. He said he tried to yodel for thirty years. He only gets away with it in the shower because no one else around to hear it. DEK of Hearts then had to follow that so they chose a song close to their hearts.

They chose “What If I Never Get Over You” by Lady A. It was the first song they ever performed together as a trio. They loved that band as well as that song. It held a significant part in their hearts. Still, it was up against yodeling. The Queen of Country herself said she did LeAnn proud. She also loved the harmonizing of DEK of Hearts. Reba said she would name DEK of Hearts the winner. Niall took her advice. He went with them as well and named them the winner of this Knockout. And then he used his Mic Drop for Kayleigh because she deserved to keep performing.

THE END!
