Beyond the Gates spoilers for the week of January 5-9 reveal that Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) will start her treatment, while Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon) has bad news, and Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) presents a proposal.
Off the cusp of Anita sharing her breast cancer diagnosis this past week, and the fact that the illness could be hereditary, the Dupree family will continue to reel.
Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) and Nicole Dupree (Daphnee Duplaix) will both get support from their new significant others, Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman) and Dr. Carlton Fitzgerald (Robert Christopher Riley); however, they will admit to each other just how they feel a pull toward exes, Bill Hamilton (Timon Durrett) and Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson) during a crisis.
It’s interesting because Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) will give Dani some advice.
He can sense that she’s recatching feelings for her ex-husband, so will he nicely advise her to stay away from Bill during this hard time and focus more on Andre?
Over to their mom, Anita, she’ll have an interesting week as she gears up for treatment.
She’ll be shocked by a visit from an old friend, and it looks like this encounter will get intense. Who could swing by to see her?
As the days go by, Anita will plan something mysterious for her family, and it sounds like she’ll want to gather with them and make some happy memories before she heads in for chemotherapy the next day.
It’ll definitely be a hard five days for the Duprees as they navigate through a roller coaster of emotions.
Both Dani and Nicole will take the steps to get their genetic testing done and will receive the results by the end of the week.
Still, the days in between will have them, and others in the family, acting abnormally.
In fact, Nicole will clash with Tyrell Richardson (Jaden Lucas Miller), which is completely out of the norm.
The two will fight about a family event, but there could be more to this than meets the eye.
Tyrell will face an obstacle with his girlfriend, Jessica (Camryn Jade), the day before, and then fight with his grandmother.
Nicole likely wants him at the family event so he can be with the other Duprees and his great-grandmother, Anita, but will he choose Jessica over them?
As the week progresses, both Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon) and Bradley “Smitty” Smith (Mike Manning) will worry about their son, so what will go down between him and Jessica that has him acting out?
By the time the weekend hits, Martin will relay some bad news to Vernon. Is this about his mom’s genetic testing results or Tyrell?
With that said, Nicole and Tyrell won’t be the only ones at each other’s throats, as Katherine “Kat” Richardson (Colby Natasha Nixon) and Chelsea Hamilton (RhonniRose Mantilla) will also get into it, too.
It sounds like this could be about Kat’s refusal to get tested if her mom receives a positive result for the cancer genetic markers. Can Chelsea get through to her?
Over at the casino, Beyond the Gates spoilers suggest Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli) will get some distressing news, which has her heading to Joey for comfort.
Still, she’ll also have a request, so is this terrible news about Anita’s cancer (and potentially Nicole at risk) or something else?
Speaking of Joey, he’ll have a proposal for Leslie Thomas (Trish Mann-Grant). Will he decide to partner up with her after all for her free clinic project?
Over at the hospital, Shanice Johnson (Ernestine Johnson) makes a confession to Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacob).
It sounds like she’ll tell her colleague about the NYE smooch with Ted, so what will Ashley’s reaction be?
Finally, fans should expect more steamy moments between Izaiah Hawthorne (David Lami Friebe) and Eva Thomas (Ambry Michelle) this week as the two continue to get closer.
