In tonight’s Tracker episode, Sara and James Clark called on Colter to help them find their son, Alex. Alex disappeared on a school field trip to the museum.
The class operated on a buddy system and Alex’s buddy never reported him missing. It took them doing a headcount back at the bus before anyone realized Alex was missing.
Alex was eight years old. He gets overwhelmed at loud noises. He hid when he heard the fire alarm after someone pulled it, but now it looks like that was a purposeful distraction. Someone with knowledge of the cameras pulled the fire alarm and then took Alex from the building.
Alex’s parents had a right to be concerned. His dad was especially annoyed with the police. James’s gut told him that someone grabbed his kid and that Alex didn’t get himself lost.
He knew his son. He didn’t think he would run off on his own. Not when his teacher was calling out for him. Not when the cops showed up.
James found an issue with the cops because they have a rule book they have to follow. Colter doesn’t. He was a tracker and he promised to never stop looking for their son. Colter checked the security areas.
People needed a security code to access them. It was employee only area. It was Colter’s fear that an employee might have played a part in what happened.
The abduction was flawless. Too much so. Colter thought maybe Sylvia Sloane who worked as a janitor was the kidnapper. She had access to the employee area. She knew about the cameras. She also had two sons about Alex’s age that she lost custody of because she was reportedly unstable. She wasn’t. Her ex-husband lied about that to get custody and not pay her a dime in support.
Colter found out about it when he brought James with him to question Sylvia. James insisted that he come too. He thought seeing a familiar face would help Alex if he’s been hurt or was scared. Colter told him to stay in the car when they got to Sylvia’s house and James didn’t listen.
He saw her coming back from a run with a friend. He confronted her. He got into an altercation with her buddy. Colter broke it up. He explained to Sylvia what happened. She said she didn’t let someone through the back exit and that’s because he claimed to be the boy’s teacher.
Mr. Brooks went back into the building alone to look for Alex. It was ten to fifteen minutes before police were called after he entered. There’s a chance that a school teacher whose done fieldtrips like this before planned everything. Colter knew he had to investigate this new lead.
He also knew he couldn’t keep including James. He sent James up in case the cops or Colter found anything. Colter had one question before he let James go and that was whether or not Mr. Brooks paid special attention to Alex.
James said that the teacher used to give him private tutoring after school. They figured because the man claimed to be a teacher that he was Mr. Brooks. Only a tall man with brown hair and a beard was what Alex drew in his art. He called that man a friend. He didn’t say it was his teacher.
Colter saw that drawing because he realized that Mr. Brooks was innocent. He was looking for Alex as well. He wouldn’t do that if he grabbed him. The teacher knew that the kids expressed themselves through their art so he looked through Alex’s old stuff looking for clues.
The teacher must have figured out who the friend was because he confronted them. The friend was Alex’s neighbor, Noah Rossi. Rossi spent time getting closer to Alex’s entire family. He taught Alex how to play chess. He knew that Alex didn’t like loud sounds so he pulled the fire alarm.
He planned everything out in advance. The real Mr. Brooks was a complication. He went to Rossi’s house. He confronted him and it ended badly because there was blood at the scene. This Rossi fellow might have taken Brooks with him to kill him.
Rossi was a shady guy. He’s moved around a lot in a short amount of time. He was arrested for loitering outside of a preschool and he received a citation that he easily paid off. He seems to come from money. Colter determined that Rossi took Alex to his family’s cabin.
Randy got the location by hacking Rossi’s digital photo frame. Colter went there and he found a badly injured Mr. Brooks. Brooks had been stuffed in the trunk and he came out fighting. Rossi got him with the axe. Alex saw the whole fight. He knew that Rossi couldn’t be trusted anymore so he ran.
Mr. Brooks was still alive. He said which direction Alex ran off to. Colter went after the boy and Brooks stayed on the phone with the cops giving them directions. Colter then caught up with Rossi. He broke his arm. He was tempted to kill him and stopped at just knocking him out.
Thank God for that teacher because he stopped something worse from happening. It was because of him that Alex was later reunited with his parents. Mr. Brooks was also making a full recovery. It was a good ending and they don’t get much of those with missing children.
James promised to be there more for his son and who knows he might’ve convinced Colter that maybe kids are a part of his future.
Reenie was also digging into her class action lawsuit. It was shaping up to be a beast. They found one witness dead and another kept hospitalized until he no longer had a will to tattle on a billion dollar company.
So, Reenie was taking on more than she thought. The worst part was Maxine doesn’t seemed fazed by anything Reenie found. Its almost as if she knew it was there and talked Reenie into it anyways.
THE END!
