Its “Wicked: For Good” Week. They were promoting the movie. Which meant everyone got to hear music from the soundtrack. They also got to listen in on the next round of the Knockouts. Up first was Team Snoop’s Toni and Natalia. Both are powerhouses. Zac Brown acting as their mega mentor came in handy because he reminded Snoop of what’s important. It wasn’t about the last performance. It was like a game of a football and they either show consistency or they lacked it. Natalia was someone that Snoop saved after she was almost eliminated from another team.
Toni was always Team Snoop. There was a sense of loyalty there. Only she decided to test herself tonight. She chose the song “Lady Marmalade” by Pattie LaBelle. She normally sings quite softly. She wanted to change things up and that’s why she chose this very much high upbeat song. Its worked perfectly for her. Natalia chose a song to show off her range as well. She chose “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder. She was R&B and Pop. She wanted to highlight that first part and it went great for her too. It was a really tough one for Snoop.
Again, there were no Saves or Steals during this round. The winner will be moving forward and the one that lost will be eliminated tonight. The winner of the first battle was Toni. Toni was just perfection. She made everyone feel a connection with that song. Next up was Team Niall. Niall’s Aiden and Liam were against each other. They have a similar sound and that’s why Niall let them battling out. It just came with a downside. The downside being that they were such good friends. They really bonded since they joined the show.
The similar sound meant he didn’t need two of them, but they made it tough on him. Aidan chose the song “When the Party’s Over” by Billie Eillish for the emotional connection. He wanted to connect with the audience. They all wanted to be able to do so. It’s what separates the great artists from the mere good ones. The face that Niall made during this performance was one of pure frustration because Aidan didn’t make it easy for him. Nor did Liam. Liam chose the song “Over My Head”.
The Fray song tapped into the singer/songwriter vibe that Niall loves so much. Both he and Aiden have the same problem of closing their eyes when they get into the song. It’s fine if that’s what helps you. It was also very frustrating because they weren’t making contact with the audience. If it was based on stage presence, Aidan won because his falsetto and the fact that he was steady came in handy. Niall must have been thinking the same because he named Aidan as the victor of this knockout.
Next up Team Bublé. He paired off his youngsters. Max and Max. Yes, he paired off the two Maxes in his group. They were both young vocalists and up first was Max Cooper III. He chose the song “End Of the Beginning” by Djo. He was usually picking upbeat songs. He wanted to showcase that he can slow it down. He did so amazingly with this song. His later performance even got the other judges excited as well. Not that anyone can sleep on Max Chambers. He was an old soul in a young body. He chose Stevie Wonder.
Now, his Stevie Wonder song was a showstopper. He chose “Don’t You Worry Bout A Thing”. His song even got Snoop on his feet dancing and singing along with him. He also had fun onstage. The other Max was playing the keyboard to accompany his voice. This Max busted out some moves. His Mega Mentor and coach both told him to get into it and he did. It was tough on their coach. He ended up going with Max Cooper III because he liked he was constantly growing into an artist. He also really liked Max Chambers because he used his Mic Drop on him.
It was the first time that Mic Drop of the season and it was well-earned.
