In tonight’s Chicago PD episode, Detective Ruzek was back. He left to go take care of his dad. Disco Bob has months left rather than years and so every moment was precious, but he was glad to return to work. His wife not so much. Detective Burgess was roped into giving in-service training.

She met someone in the class. Officer Katy Wilson was young. She was eager. She gave up ballet to become a cop in spite her parents being in the arts. She said she always wanted to be police. She’s been put on administrative duty so far. She wants in on the action. And Burgess thought of her when they needed an extra body.

Imani was taking a mini-furlough. They needed an extra person to help Narcotics hit twenty-six locations. Burgess included Wilson. Wilson was fine in the car as they waited out front.

She was quick to jump in on the action when it kicked off. Bullets began to fly. Burgess kept Wilson with her at all times. There was an officer that got hurt at the location. Wilson stayed with him until ambulance arrived. He was rushed to Chicago Med. The cops were later told he was going to make it. It was a good day.

The one downside was that there were no closer to finding the people Narcotics was targeting. His name is Eric Mosley. Mosley has a type. He likes them young. They had to be in their twenties and still have an innocent air about them. Someone like Wilson. Wilson was a cinnamon roll.

Burgess hoped it was just appearance because she wanted Wilson to be tough enough for the job. She talked her team into accepting Wilson as undercover. Voight asked her if she was sure because Wilson was still new.

Only Burgess believed she saw Wilson in the field. She thought she could handle it. They entrapped one of Mosley’s men. They got him to turn informant and he made the introductions between Mosley and Wilson.

Wilson had just heard back from Mosley that she was approved to do a run when Burgess got a call. The injured cop took a turn for the worst. He died in the hospital. This death has Wilson considering everything. She wanted to be an officer and only now has it dawn on her the consequences.

Wilson was a little shaky in the field afterwards. She still pulled off the job. She made her first drop. It wasn’t drugs. It was money. It was still perfectly legal. Wilson had returned from a successful job when another call came in. It was from the Medical Examiner’s office.

The bullet that killed Officer Parker wasn’t enemy fire. It was friendly fire. Wilson had accidentally killed Parker. She committed a fireable offence. Wilson was told the news and suddenly it made sense why no one wanted her in the field so soon.

Burgess thought it was sexism. She thought people were holding the ballet against her. She now understand that Wilson might not have been ready for it.

She accidentally killed a fellow cop. She was already shaky. Burgess wanted to pull her out. Wilson wanted to make it right. She wanted to fix things and she ended up making things worse. She went off book. She didn’t take her undercover car. She turned off her undercover cell. She missed a call from Mosley. She did it because she went drinking.

Unfortunately, Parker’s widow called Wilson. She called her a murderer when just earlier she thought she was a hero. It’s why Wilson needed a few drinks.

She went to a place where people knew her. She could’ve easily been seen. She was still able to respond to Mosley so he wasn’t any wiser. It simply might not be enough to save her career. Taking him down might not be enough. Wilson met with Mosley the next day. She had enough footage from her wire to indicate he was moving a very large shipment of meth.

Her back up were going to wait to move in only trouble arrived. Mosley was ripping off one crew to give drugs to another. The people he ripped off found out about it.

They came in with guns. The cops were forced to go in as well. Wilson was still inside. They disarmed everyone and Mosley tried to flee in the chaos. Burgess went after him and so did Wilson. Wilson froze for about a minute. Burgess talked her into remembering she was still a cop. It ended up being Wilson who put down Mosley.

The case was officially over now. Wilson would later turn in her badge. She didn’t wait to be fired. She spoke to Burgess about it and she said she missed feeling safe. She might even return to ballet after this.

Burgess returned home not knowing if her daughter wanted to change schools or not because now she’s doubting what’s best for others.

THE END!
